long time no post.
I was in Charlotte this weekend. I had a quite pleasant time with few regrets which has to be some kind of statistical outlier(lj doesn't think that outlier is a word).
I am about 3 weeks away from finishing my first full-time semester ever. It looks like I'll have a 3.12 for the semester.
That is, of course, dependent on me writing a 4-7 page paper on "Barn Burning" that is due after Thanksgiving. Plus, I have to do an 15-20 minute oral presentation on class struggle and "Death of Salesman" on Dec. 8th which I haven't even started.
I'm conflicted over a lot of things lately. I'd like to move out of my apartment and get a house with Kenny and his roommate but I am beholden to my lease until August and they want to move in February.
Also, on my way back to Asheville, I was listening to a conversation on NPR that basically said people who did poorly in high school or dropped out have ridiculous odds to circumvent not having a Bachelor's or even an Associate's in anything, even if they do graduate, the odds that they will be financially successful are greatly diminished. Also, one of the guests pretty much bashed Liberal Arts and Humanities degrees in general as a bunch of BS that doesn't prepare you for the workforce. It isn't that I disagree with that entirely but, why do they have to tell me that RIGHT NOW?!?

im doing good. talked to admissions at unca today. looks like i have a better than decent shot at getting in next fall as an almost junior(i think ill be short by like 4 credits)
im still gonna apply to unc though gotta take my buddies out to some bball games ya know?
presently i have:
3 A's 1 B and 1 C.
the c is in stats and we're into probability theory now so its way easier and i think i can catch back up. my professor says if i work hard for the rest of the semester and do better on the tests(last one i got was a 64) i'll be able to make an A.
that should bring my gpa up to 3.2ish. am i being overly optimistic that that is good enough to get into unc? i can't find any good gpa numbers from unc on transfer students. |

So i've made it through the first 2 weeks of school.
its going good i guess
im taking
BIO 110 Introduction to Biology (LAB)
PHI 230 Introduction to Logic
ENG 113 Literary Research
HIS 112 World Civ 2
MAT 151 Elementary Statistics (LAB)
sooooo 17 real college credit hours. this shits easy as long as i keep up with it. i didnt do the reading the other day for english and got a 30 on a quiz. its aight though she drops the lowest 2. i like my statistics class alot its the only math class ive ever taken where i can directly apply complex math to what i want to do.
also i have almost entirely given up drinking. i drank 5 beers and a glass of wine the other night with kenny and was so drunk i almost threw up. whatttttt. ive been here since the 6th of august and drank 3 times.
i dont know if i want to make friends here. i mean i didnt come here to be social.i came here to get my fucking shit straight and graduate before im 30. but if i meet some cool people whatever i guess.
i do get bored. i signed up with the asheville dnc. maybe they can give me something to do to keep me busy.
the weather here is amazing.
at night right before i go to bed i go outside in a pea coat and underwear and smoke cigarettes on my back porch. |

I am there now. My apartment doesn't have A/C(anal cunt) but that doesn't matter it is still chilly at night. I live in a boarding house thats been converted to a quadraplex in an alleyway. Its dank. One of my neighbors is a middle aged black dude with a scooter. I start school in 11 days. Things have and continue to be going my way. I am stoked. |

So... I'm in Greenville for the time being. I took my placement tests at Blue Ridge Community College and did good enough to test straight into college algebra!I had already placed into college level English at CPCC. I'm going to look at this apartment on Friday:
 
I guess I'm going back to Charlotte again this weekend to payoff a traffic ticket and get a few hours in at Fortune Cookie. I'm real stoked on going back to school full time. I'm about to watch Wall-E for the first time. |

I'm homeless. Sort of. I'm crashing at my mom and step-dad's place for a couple days. Going to Asheville tomorrow to find a place to live. If I show dedication they'll fund my scholastic expedition. I've fallen off the no smoking wagon though. I might join the Coast Guard...

apparently an eviction notice came today. i dont care its been a long time coming and im somewhat prepared for it. me and brace and mary are hopefully getting a new place on the 22 of next month off central near morningside its pretty cool the front yard is a parking lot because the house used to be a business and its really nice inside and all that junk. and its only 750 for a 3 bed soooo. getting a new place wont matter for shit though if i dont have a new job so i applied at harris teeter on thursday and it sounded promising i liked working at fresh market minus the shitty pay. ill call them back monday.

if i cant find a job like in the next week or two ill probably have to move down to greenville for a month or two to prepare to move to asheville

ira glass was on the colbert report. i want to go to the see this american life tomorrow but im having trouble justifying 20 dollars i barely have on something i can probably end up downloading for free plus who the fuck likes going to regal. i like my new laptop im pirating games 24/7. right now im playing civ iv beyond the sword where im conquering interstellar space. im downloading indiana jones and the fate of atlantis a game from the mid90s by lucas arts and it makes me want to download all the other early video games i played when i was a boy. ie day of the tentacle, sam and max hit the road, grim fandango. and those are just funny puzzle games! |
